ELPIS name comes from the story of "Pandora's Box" - Elpis was the personified spirit (daimona) of hope. She and the other daimones were trapped in a jar by Zeus and entrusted to the care of the first woman Pandora.
The story goes, Zeus had given the box to Pandora as a gift on her wedding day and told her to never open it. Curiosity got the best of her one day and she opened the box releasing Greed, Malice, Despair, Disease, Old Age, Hatred, Violence, Cruelty and War into the world. She slammed the lid down keeping only the spirit of Hope in the box. This piece is reminder that even when things seem really bad, the only thing we have left is hope.....Hope Conquers All.
